During this time I was involved in a number of projects to help the company reach their strategic goals:
On SoundCloud: Acquiring the first round of independent artists as content partners for the launch of On SoundCloud and initial rollout of a program allowing independent rights holders to monetise their content on the platform, plus the launch of the first independent artist/brand “promoted track” tie-in with Sizzlebird & Jaguar.
Content Delivery Partnerships: Increasing the number of rightsholders delivering content to SoundCloud’s fingerprinter and using the provided CMS for rights management while working cross-functionally with our Partner Tools, Copyrights & Legal, Content Operations and Account Management teams.
Partner Relations Management: Developing partner management strategies to increase communication and usage from key partners in the music industry, such as co-ordinating the ‘Pro Partner Beta’; a beta package allowing extra promotional and visual features for artist profiles such as Disclosure, Alt-J, Miley Cyrus and Bjork.
SoundCloud Labs: Launched ‘SoundCloud Labs’, projects ranged from an Ed Sheeran Takes Questions, JLS Storywheel, Guillemots Social for Download, Rolling Stones Premier app for Facebook, MTV’s Brand New for 2012 submissions app and Beyoncé’s ‘End of Time’ remix competition.
SoundCloud Curators: Acquiring and developing relationships with identified curators for increasing further use of curatorial features; reposting & playlisting. From curators such as Pigeons & Planes and The Fader to the “Diplo Approved’ SoundCloud channel.
Music Industry Outreach: Scaled one-to-many music industry communications such as ‘SoundCheck’, a music industry focused blog and newsletter or the setup of “SoundCloud Open Office” featuring presentations and talks with digital marketers tailored for members of organisations such as AIM & MMF, plus speaking at wider music industry events.
